CLUTCH PLATES

Also known as the friction disc,it is a flat,circular component made up of metal and covered with friction material on both sides.Sandwiched between the flywheel(connected to the engine) and the pressure plate,when engaged,the pressure plate presses the clutch plate tightly against the flywheel and vice-versa.Whenever there is a difficulty changing gears,a burning smell,vibration or chattering when releasing the clutch,then those are important indicators to change your worn out clutch plate.A clutch plate has a lifespan between 30,000 to 100,000 Km depending on one’s driving style and conditions.
